Re: Who here is from the old Blur forums?

I got curious so I used web.archive.com.

I joined the old forum on 29 Aug 2004, and I'm fairly sure I was the user with most posts, >32 thousand.

Man, we used to post about all kinds of crap back then.

Re: Gorillaz - Meanwhile... EP

I think Gorillaz has to be understood, in 2021 at least, as a kind of vehicle for Damon's relentless energy. It's a means by which he can travel, meet people, get stoned, be productive, play music and broaden his interest in contemporary pop. In many ways the most representative Gorillaz records of...

Re: Gorillaz - Meanwhile... EP

Had no idea this EP was out until the performance on Jimmy Kimmel popped on my YouTube feed a couple of days ago. So I've been listening to the songs constantly since then and I gotta say I'm quite perplexed at the overall negativity it has received on this forum. In my opinion, Meanwhile is a great...

Re: Blur - The Magic Whip

Every time I get in the mood for The Magic Whip, whenever Pyongyang comes up, I'm inclined to pause and look up for the MODE performance instead. Man, I'll never get over the fact how underwhelming the album version turned out after listening to that sublime live version for a month straight beforeh...

those On Melancholy Hill stats are fascinating, what a strange world we live in
Indeed.

I have to say, I'm not the biggest fan of the song myself. I find it strangely bland, and Damon's vocals uninspiring. Always considered Rhinestone Eyes a far superior track.

Re: The Divine Comedy - new box set

Interesting, thanks. I think I've heard (or seen Youtube footage of) 'A Lady Of...' and was impressed. However, also heard (or maybe just seen lyrics to) Mother Dear and cringed. I really don't like his twee/wacky stuff. If National Express or Perfect Lovesong come on the radio, I have to change st...

Re: Gorillaz dream Collaborations

Bruno Mars. Just because he's one of the best pop artists of the past 10 years and I can imagine Gorillaz doing a really fun pop song with him. Maybe your right, maybe we aren't aiming high enough. A current pop artist would be great The biggest issue in my eyes, is that those who receive a lot of ...

Re: WigWam Appreciation Thread

Nice to know one band member remembers the Punk EP drama, so the songs are recorded and stashed away somewhere? seems strange not to share them with the fan base or even do something with them for Magic Whip They probably were shite. and they released something like piano or nutter? Their managemen...

Re: WigWam Appreciation Thread

Honestly, I really hope it gets released. From my understanding the album was almost finished. And I know Dave mentioned in one of his Zoom chats this year that he still hopes it'll be released at some point. The songs were excellent at the gig I went to (Cardiff Barfly, 2006!) but only four songs ...

Re: Gorillaz dream Collaborations

Wasn't there some sort of cross over on Cowboy Song, or the dead man on campus sound track or something? I'm sure I had a song labelled as being by Blur + Radiohead in the Napster days. Not that I would condone illegal downloading of course. It's much better to wait months to wait and see if a pre-...

Re: GORILLAZ ALBUMZ RANKED

6. Humanz* (*Humanz would be MUCH higher if it lost the interludes, and included Ticker Tape, The Apprentice, Sleeping Powder, and Out of Body instead of Carnival, SMP, Submission, and B&B. Plus replace Charger with the Pauline Black version.) Forgot to address this earlier. I totally agree. I thin...
