Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

unreleased track with BECK just leaked!!! https://archive.org/details/gorillaz-ft.-beck-unreleased-track Can see why it didn't get released the vocal swapping sounds pretty bad Lots of people saying it's fake - what do we think? The opening lines flow very similarly to Feel Good Inc, and 'feels so ...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

How Far? might be tweaked a bit by October's CD release, so it may grow ever more. Skepta's catchy on it, but it's alllll about that Tony Allen beat for me (RIP to the legend, and happy 80th bday!) Alright, enough Song Machine rambling for now... till September! ;) Do you think How Far will be on t...

It's Jarv Is - Beyond The Pale release day!

Surely we're all Pulp fans here? I pre-ordered this ages ago and forgot it was coming out today, landed in my inbox this morning and I haven't stopped listening yet. Some tracks would fit on Separations, some on Intro, a couple are more TIH, and 3 are new ground for Jarvis but still ace. Seriously, ...

Re: Is The Great Escape the worst Blur album?

Ultranol should replace Mr R's Q - instantly better album :) Ultranol is as cringy as Mr R's Q. The na na na's are like nails on a chalkboard. Agreed BUT Mr R's Q is basically just Country House again with different words - if that spot on the album (first song on 2nd side of the cassette btw) is r...

Re: Is The Great Escape the worst Blur album?

Hard to say 'worst', but imo their album of least merit (as an album) because it's the only one that shows little desire to progress their sound and grow - in many ways it's Parklife 2; the formula is working, give them more of that! I was so happy buying it on tape aged 15 from WHSmiths for £5.99 a...

Re: Blur mix tape nostalgia

I've got a few of these in my attic too (although not as nicely typed out and printed)! I like a lot of the selection but it seems to be totally lacking the key art of the mixtape in your running order. Yuko & Hiro sandwiched between Sunday Sunday and Girls & Boys?! And SNFAS and This is a Low as s...

Re: RIP Tony Allen

Really sad news. My wife just this morning came across a clip of our little boy dancing to Go Back a few years ago, then I heard Tony had died, one of those weird coincidences. I put the clip here: https://twitter.com/jeffknottingham/sta ... 2627164160

Re: The Dawn Parade (Greg McDonald)

Love Dawn parade. Never heard of that album! Do you have the song Moonbathers? Hey, sorry only just saw your reply. Yes! Moonbathers is track 6 of Passing Down Fate's Dusty Highway :) Here's a link to the album: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/145Zis8W1rRl2Yz44eInwC8gzVIufupmm?usp=sharing

Blur mix tape nostalgia

Found these lovingly created specimens in my attic over the weekend. Pre 13 obviously, but what do you think of my selections? :D

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

Got the album for Christmas on compact disc. A fixture in the car now and enjoying it more all the time. Damon’s output over the last few years has been getting better and better imho. If you take ML TNN and the 2D featuring Humanz songs and bsides, plus TMW, and most of the live versions from Every...

Re: TGTBTQ: New single "Merrie Land"

Reminds me a little bit of E-Bow the Letter.
But mostly it reminds me of Bowie's Where Are We Now? Wistful, talky, deceptively catchy, even the video is similar.

So - Visconti?

I'm beyond excited for this album, especially because the of Visconti's contribution.

Re: THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE QUEEN THREAD

The omens are good for the next GBQ album :) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-45642590 possibly not so good for the whale though :( :( Yeah - this is some amazingly elaborate publicity stunt! Guess the album must be about to drop. Maybe the whale is animatronic - it's probably swimming in...

The Dawn Parade (Greg McDonald)

Any fans of this fantastic band / songwriter? Just re-discovered all their stuff on an old hard drive, so manu good songs. There’s a CDr album in my collection that seems to be a Greg solo record pre Dawn Parade, it’s oabelled ‘Passing Down Fate’s Dusty Highway’, and has songs like Miss Serville, A ...
