Re: Blur Picture Thread
Yeah, I'd put money on those pics being from 96'. You could tell that they had been touring non-stop for two years by the look of them. It's amazing how bad the date keeping is on official books and videos. Alex's book has a couple of glaring errors and he's the writer and the guy actually in ...

I love the end of Country House when there are three melodies going on at the same time.

Req: Rough trade gig 2009..
I think it was the first live gig of the 2009 campaign, I'd love to hear a bootleg because the atmosphere looked amazing and they didn't have room for the back-up singers or trumpet players, so it sounded quite raw, almost just the band by themselves.

Re: general blur thread
I don't know if this was ever the object of a discussion, but dit The Jesus and Mary Chain influence Blur? They toured together etc., but was it ever mentioned or audible? By the way, the sound of Far Gone And Out always reminds me a little bit of Bang: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7v4AAd00dSQ I...

Re: fools day - blur best song as 4 men since 1999
Blurs best work always has a sense of the seasons about them. I think of Autumn when I hear Beetlebum, I think of muggy summer heat in a forest when hearing Wood Pigeon. Fools Day has obvious references to Spring, but even without the words, you could imagine a crisp blue sky and a sharp refreshing ...

Re: FOUR NEW GORILLAZ SONGS: Listen Now!
For the last 15 years I've said (and witnessed countless others online doing) that Damon's latest music Isn't as good as his earlier work.... and as usual I'll love it by the twentieth listen.

Re: FOUR NEW GORILLAZ SONGS: Listen Now!
Agreed. I don't like the homophobic/bling bling types of rap music you sometimes hear on mainstream pop radio (I assume that's the type you had in mind?), but I realise it's only the thin top crust of the genre. Like how you get those pop-punk bands that sell licensed teen rebellion, I know that onc...

Re: Bill Laswell Session - 2000
I love the Puritan myself, a synthetic keyboard sound, with lyrics railing against the synthetic music business. Damon always does that type of duality really well. Mostly.

If David Bowie met Graham Coxon in 1969? Imagine that Lol, you'd have Blur more or less.

Re: Gorillaz - "Hallelujah Money"
I rate it maybe 6-7/10. Why so high? Because there's actually a beautiful melody and harmony behind the Gorillaz' oddball production. It is basically a hymn-like song that would work nicely on the piano and vocals alone. Some guy posted a half-finished piano cover of the song: https://www.youtube.c...
