Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine Tour 2020-2021
Been a minute since I posted here — wanted to say how fun the live show was! It was ambitious and worked out great! I think Momentary Bliss was my biggest highlight. It was everything that I needed it to be. Damn I can’t wait to see this live in REAL life.

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
6lack's verses have grown on me as well. I was never totally against his parts, I just felt his introduction was a bit too abrupt. But I love how Damon, 6lack, and Elton all mesh toward the end of the song. While some Song Machine tracks have been instant hits for me (MB, Aries, Pac-Man) each song h...

Re: Blur fan first and foremost or Damon Albarn fan?
Always said my favorite band of all time is blur... so I suppose I’d have to say I’m a blur fan first and foremost. But what’s that really matter anyway? When telling people my favorite bands/artists, I tend to use blur as an umbrella term instead of throwing out how much I love Graham’s solo work, ...

Re: the Good, the Bad & the Queen - the end?
It’s so sad, but what a lovely band they were. One of the tightest bands ever. Has there ever been a greater rhythm section? I highly doubt it...
RIP Tony. Best drummer of all time. If there truly is more unreleased material out there, though, I would kill to hear it.

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
Just found this instrumental of Friday 13th: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBjZxRMT5cE Not sure if it’s official or just a well made fan instrumental, but it’s really nice. The song continues to grow and grow on me. At first I didn’t care much for Octavian’s vocals, but I’m starting to appreciate ...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
How Far? might be tweaked a bit by October's CD release, so it may grow ever more. Skepta's catchy on it, but it's alllll about that Tony Allen beat for me (RIP to the legend, and happy 80th bday!) Alright, enough Song Machine rambling for now... till September! ;) Do you think How Far will be on t...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
Can't stop listening to Pac Man. As funky a tune as Gorillaz has ever made, which I can never get enough of. it has the perfect balance between Damon and the collaborator. Schoolboy Q's verse is great! Song Machine is 6/6 for me, but only after allowing Friday 13th to properly grow on me. The instru...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
Song is definitely a grower, but I think it has already grown on me considerably since first listen. Wasn't eager to relisten like I was to the rest of the Song Machine tracks, but parts of Octavian's parts are interesting - albeit still the weakest of the Song Machine collabs. The instrumental is a...

Re: Damon Albarn - The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows
Don't remember ever seeing this barn studio - thought at first it could be in Iceland. Stream beginning, super excited!! Rich, still makes me sad we won't be seeing this at the Barbican in a little over a week... but this surprise is the best consolation no doubt :) certainly is the best consolatio...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
I can see why people think it is a bit too New Order, but I love the combination. I don't think it falls too heavily on a New Order sound, instead it feels like the perfect mix of Gorillaz and New Order. Damon sounds like Damon in this tune, not like he's trying to be Bernard Sumner. His line in the...
