Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

I have been listening all day. It's really great, and definitely the best thing Damon has produced since Plastic Beach. Such detail and melody on every song. (Puts The Magic Whip and some of its lesser and disappointing throwback moments - e.g. lonesome street - in context in terms of Damon's engag...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

Ok, no hard feelings :-) Lets say "anything" Albarn" is not a big deal for Cure fans - seemingly. As for St. Vincent, I don´t know much about her, but she did an album with David Byrne a few years ago. Anyway, it´s always funny for me to see St. Vincent (= Annie Clark), because long time ago, in the...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

They should - and maybe will - release "Valley of Pagans" as next proper episode, as official audio of the song is getting lot of views/listens on platmorms. This abum has been well promoted via Elton John social media. The reaction of Cure fans, as I saw some comments on youtube or under facebook ...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

Ah, sadly no flipping chance of #1! As I (kind of) predicted, Bruce Springsteen is miles ahead. He's on 37,000 and Gorillaz are at #2 with 9,000. Nothing but Thieves (I've never heard of them either!) are close behind and may overtake, especially if they've got a single out that's picking up airpla...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

It works very well for me as an album. The Valley of Pagans is instantly catchy, there´s no slowing down to my ears. Aries is much more than just torelable, It´s beautiful song, that line "Feels like I´m falling again" is pure Damon at his best. Even the songs I wasn´t so excited about, when they ca...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

Now I agree much more. I rated TMW around 7.5/10. Not a HUGE fan, but I still like it a lot, not least because of some reasons you just highlighted.

Re: New Graham project: Mexican Institute Of Sound - My America Is Not Your America (Feat. Graham Coxon)

this is his collaboration with Mexican Institute of Sound, a project created by mexican DJ Camilo Lara. It was recorded last year before Graham´s two shows in Mexico City. One song is already out for some time, it features Graham on guitar. What is yet to be known is whether Graham is featured on ev...

Re: Papa Roach cover Song 2

its good idea to have its own thread for Blur (and related) covers because others might surface. I have to say I enjoy most of them, by which I´m not saying I take them all too seriously. I shared some of them in Facebook group Blur fan club the other day and get kinda booed for some of it :-) (no h...

Re: Papa Roach cover Song 2

With right links: Beetlebum gets covered a lot on youtube by fans but not by bands. I think it's a fun riffed for beginners but yeah you don't get many other famous covers except from song 2. I thought KT Tunstall covered a blur song once but that might have been a Gorillaz song. It's strange you co...

Re: Papa Roach cover Song 2

Song 2 gets covered very often, but what about other Blur songs? I was interested the other day to find out which recording artists (not just fans covering songs on youtube) covered a Blur song, OTHER than Song 2, whether live or in the studio. I found some weird, bizarre and sometimes decent stuff ...
